Obituary- Manildra, Friday... The death ocurred early this morning of Mr William Cole, in his 85th year. he was a residnet of the district for the past 60 years, coming here from the Guyong District, and was very well known and highly respected. He is survived by a widow, Mrs. Alice Mary Cole, four daughters, Mesdames H. Ford (Manidlra), Staines (Molong), M. Cassell (Sydney) and A. Carter (Sydney); two brothers, Messrs. John cole (Manildra) and James Cole (Lithgow); four sisters, Mesdames McPhail, (Newcastle), Moore (Orange), Harris and Higgins (Yeoval). The funeral will take place tomorrow morning at 11 O'Clock, after a service at the Baptist Church, Manildra, for the Baptist portion of the Maranburn cemetary.

Both had religion listed as Church of England and both could read.
On the immigration papers on the 5th of April Sarah has her occupation marked as House Servant. Under parents names and residence if alive, William has what looks like Freshwater-Elijah and Ann and living in Melbourn Cambridge. Sarah has Miller-William living in Shepreth Cambridge. Neither had any relatives in Australia when they arrived and both were in good health.

5th June 1913 Eddie was employed by the NSW Governemtn Railways as a Boilermaker Helper, at the Eveleigh Workshops. Eddie was transferred to the Traffic Department of the Railways as a watchman on 20th Mar 1920.

Great Strike occurred August 1917, at this stage Eddie was part of the Locco Department, at Evenleigh. Eddie did not take part in the strike.

20 Nov 1927 Eddie was promoted to Leading Watchman and held this post until 18 aug 1935. The Australain Railways Union declared Eddie and non member. This resulted in Eddie loosing his promotion and reverting to the grade of watchman. 10 Jan 1938 Eddie was transferred to the position of acting Porter and in may 1938 Eddie was transferred back to the position of watchman until a permanent position as a porter became available. This became available 5 oct 1938 and on 23 Apr 1939 Eddie was promoted to Porter Class 2. Eddie held this position until his death.

Annie Rhode died 1 on 29 Dec 1956 in Home of Peace, petersham, Nsw, Australia. She was buried 2 in Cremated at Roockwood Crematorium- ashes scattered. She married William Henry Stewart Lockwood.

1899 Parish map shows the property previously owned by Robert Gransden is now owned by the Bank of Australasia, the property previously owned by Thomas Balcomb is now owned by J.E. Nash. Henry Gransden still has property in the area.

He has many relatives in the district, to whom sympathy will be extended in their bereavement.
